These champions and leaders and many others in their respective fields all meditate even though a few were highly skeptical of the benefits initially. According to his blog Gates Notes, Gates thought meditation was a "a woo-woo thing tied somehow to reincarnation" and he did not buy into it. But Gates is now a dedicated practitioner after he started using the Headspace app.
Harari was a big skeptic before he finally took up a friend's suggestion to go on a meditation retreat in India. He is now a big proponent of meditation and included it as the twenty-first lesson in his most recent book, 21 Lessons for the 21st Century. He credits meditation for his becoming a better historian. A little more than a decade ago Harari was a junior professor at Hebrew University. He is now a world-renowned historian after writing his bestsellers, Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind and Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow
