We welcome your suggestions for titles that you would like to find at the library. You can request up to 10 items per month.
Please check our catalog to make sure we don't already carry the item. If you do not find it in our collection, log in to your library account (a valid SCCLD Library Card and PIN are required) to submit your request. Go to My Library Dashboard and click Submit a Suggestion.
Please Note: For eBooks and downloadable audiobooks, submitting suggestions through the OverDrive (Libby) website is the fastest and easiest method. Please see the Suggestion for Purchase FAQs below for more information.
Our librarians will carefully consider each suggestion in accordance with the Santa Clara County Library District Selection Policy. Track the progress of your suggestions from the Suggested Purchases list in My Settings. Items selected for purchase usually appear in the catalog within 2 to 4 weeks. The library prioritizes purchasing upcoming titles and those published within the last 5 years. We cannot accept requests earlier than 2 months before the publication date.
Please Note: For specialized, technical, or out-of-print materials, you may wish to consider using Interlibrary Loan (ILL), a cooperative borrowing agreement among libraries. There is a $4.00 non-refundable search/processing fee for each title requested. Newer items (i.e. published within the last 12 months) and most audio-visual materials are not available through ILL.
The Suggest for Purchase service is intended for the use of library patrons and is not for solicitations or other commercial purposes. If you are an author and would like to suggest your published work to us, please review the Guidelines for Authors and follow the directions found on that page.
