We've made it to the end of another year, which means there are about 854 Best Books of the Year lists to sift through. Okay, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but seriously, with so many lists, how can we know which are REALLY the best books? It's so overwhelming! That's where we come in to save the day. We look at lists from our professional literature, like Publisher's Weekly, Library Journal, and Booklist; major newspapers and magazines such as the New York Times, the Washington Post, and Oprah Magazine; popular pop culture websites like PopSugar, Bookriot, and Vulture; retailers like Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and more! In all this year, 27 lists were consulted to find the best of the best. Every time a book makes it onto a list, it gets a point, so the more lists it's on, the higher its score. And now, here are the Best Books of 2022! Drumroll please...
The top fiction book of 2022 is Trust by Hernán Díaz, with a score of 13! Close on its heels were The Candy House by Jennifer Egan, Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel, and Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin, all with a score of 12.
For nonfiction, we have a tie for the top spot with Constructing a Nervous System by Margo Jefferson and An Immense World by Ed Wong, with a score of 11.
Beyond those, there are so many wonderful books on these lists! We have the top fiction and nonfiction in the lists below. Remember, we have these books in multiple formats, so whether you like traditional print, large print, ebook, or audio, we probably have you covered. Happy reading!
