Maybelline Chen’s world is shattered when her beloved brother Danny dies by suicide. Everything seemed to be going so well for Danny - he had just been admitted to Princeton, but nobody knew that he was struggling with depression.
May and her parents are devastated, made worse by racist accusations that Asians put too much pressure on their children and that this was the cause for the suicide.
While May’s parents would like to keep their heads down and ignore these accusations, May wants to take back the narrative and tell her own story.
But is she ready to deal with the consequences of her actions or are they bigger than she thought?
