Resource to Provide Library Users Guidelines to Start their Own Investment Club
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF. – Santa Clara County Library District card holders now have direct access to “Investment Club Starter Kits,” a new resource based on the successful workshop presented last year at several District libraries by members of the Silicon Valley Chapter of Better Investing.
“Financial literacy is crucial for individuals and families,” said County of Santa Clara Supervisor Mike Wasserman, Delegate for the County Library District Joint Powers Authority. “We praise the Library for helping users understand concepts that might contribute to their education and economic independence.”
The kits are available to all Santa Clara County Library District cardholders. Each kit includes an Investment Club Starter Kit Guide with includes tax forms and operating guidelines to ensure a successfully managed club. Also, six Better Investing publications complement the kit:
- Investment club operations handbook
- Introduction to successful investing handbook
- Using portfolio management wisdom handbook
- Mutual fund handbook
- Investing for life youth handbook
- Stock selection handbook
The Investment Club Starter Kits were developed by the Silicon Valley Chapter of Better Investing, and the Santa Clara County Library District.
“We are very pleased to offer practical resources and services that expand our patrons’ knowledge and learning experience,” said Santa Clara County Librarian Nancy Howe. “We hope they take advantage of this opportunity that might give them the necessary information to get closer to their financial goals.”
Cardholders can borrow the Investment Club Starter Kits in different ways. They can ask at the Reference Desk of any Santa Clara County Library District community library or bookmobile; they can go online at http://sccl.bibliocommons.com/item/show/1518336016 to order them, or they can call 1-800-286-1991, during business hours (Monday-Friday 8:30a.m. - 5:00p.m.) and specify the library where they would like to pick up the kit.
