Workshops to Provide Information, Tools and Resources for High School and College Students
WHAT:
Santa Clara County Library District (SCCLD) announces its workshop series called “Don’t Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda Yourself: How to Finance your College Education!”
These presentations are part of SCCLD’s Smart Investing @ the Library initiative and will be held in various locations this fall. Participants will learn the ins and outs of financial aid for all types of higher education institutions – the Community College, Cal State University, and University of California systems, and Private Colleges. Presentations in English, Spanish, Vietnamese and Mandarin will be available. They are free and open to all.

WHY:
According to a recent College Board report, steep funding cuts to higher education in California and elsewhere have sent tuition and fees soaring the past few years. To make matters more complicated, families with children in public colleges often don’t know what the cost of tuition will be until the end of the summer, when state budgets are finalized. This can result in last minute fee increases that families are not prepared for. Presentations will provide insightful information on how resources and services to finance college education with minimal debt and surprises.
