Dozens of makers to participate in first-ever event

WHAT: Santa Clara County Library District is hosting a Mini Maker Faire at the Gilroy Library. Maker Faires are designed for “Makers” to share their hobbies, experiments and projects in a family-friendly setting. 35 Makers’ booths are planned. Numerous activities and performances are scheduled, including the participation of the Walt Disney Museum, which will help create a community art project. Assemblymember Robert Rivas will welcome guests at the opening ceremony.
WHO: Santa Clara County Library District, Assemblymember Robert Rivas, Maker Media, dozens of local makers and hobby enthusiasts, food vendors.
WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, July 13, 2019
Opening ceremony at 10:45 am

WHY: Santa Clara County is home to creative and innovative people ready to share their DIY and STEAM talents. Maker Faires provide that venue. Events like these bring together people of all backgrounds who share a passion for ingenuity. We hope to inspire the next generation of Makers, and what better place to find help than at the Library!

In 2018, SCCLD had nearly 370,000 library account holders and welcomed 3.3 million visitors who borrowed 9.85 million items.
