All Santa Clara County Library District libraries open 7 days/week

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF. – Santa Clara County Library District (SCCLD) is fulfilling a multi-year goal to open all of its libraries seven days a week with the addition of four new service hours at both Campbell and Gilroy libraries. Starting on March 17, Campbell and Gilroy libraries will be open Sundays from 1 to 5 pm.

“Working patrons and parents have asked our libraries for additional service hours on the weekend when they are more available to visit the library with their families and browse our collections,” said Chris Brown, Deputy County Librarian. “SCCLD has worked closely with the individual libraries to meet this request for new service hours for Campbell and Gilroy.”

SCCLD has enacted these changes in response to a customer satisfaction survey on library hours. The additional open hours of service reflect the preferences expressed by their local communities and will provide residents more opportunities to visit the library and access services at convenient times.

“I am proud of our most recent accomplishment offering seven-days-a-week service for all of our libraries,” said Santa Clara County Supervisor and Library Joint Powers Authority Board Chairman Mike Wasserman. “Learning does not stop during weekends, so why should libraries?”

Campbell Library will celebrate the additional hours of service with a special performance by Germar the Magician on Sunday, March 31 at 1:30 pm. Gilroy Library’s festivities will feature magician The Great Jonathan on Sunday, March 31 at 3:30 pm. Visit www.sccl.org for more information about the hours for all of our locations and their full event schedules.

Previously, Saratoga (1980’s), Milpitas (2016), Los Altos (2017), Woodland (2018), and Morgan Hill (2018) libraries had expanded their services to include Sunday hours. Saratoga is planning to add four more Sunday hours, making their new schedule 10 am to 6 pm, effective Sunday, April 14.
