Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month with a Sprinkle of Spanish Storytime and a Sweet Treat!

National Hispanic Heritage Month, opens a new window is celebrated from September 15th through October 15th recognizing the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States. The national commemoration of Hispanic Heritage Week began in 1968 under President Lyndon Johnson. Twenty years later, President Ronald Reagan expanded the observation to a month.

Santa Clara County Library District children’s services librarians will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a special Sprinkle of Spanish, opens a new window storytime featuring the book Paletero Man by Lucky Diaz., opens a new window This colorful book narrates the story of a young child as they travel through their neighborhood in search of the Paletero Man. When they finally reach the Paletero Man, the child realizes their pockets are empty! What will they do? This sweet story illustrates the power and strength of community!  After storytime, all participating children can enjoy their own sweet paleta (while supplies last)!
