National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) Write-In

If you've never heard of NaNoWriMo, it stands for National Novel Writing Month. This event has been held across the globe in November since 1999, when founder Chris Baty challenged himself and his friends to write and complete a novel in one month! Each year writers of all ages and backgrounds challenge themselves to write a novel, or 50,000 words, throughout the month of November.

This is no small feat. In order for independent writers to help support and encourage each other, they began meeting at events they call Write-Ins. This means they meet at a safe, public space where people can gather to focus on their writing, share ideas and inspirations, and generally experience the joys and pains of writing together.

This November you can participate by dropping-in to our Write-In at the Morgan Hill Library! Meet other local writers, chat about your project and ideas, and WRITE! Whether you are participating in the NaNoWriMo challenge or writing casually, no matter what you're working on, you're invited to join us to mingle, chat, and write. We will be sure to have extra writing materials and laptops available for your use.

This event is for teens and adults ages 13 and up. No sign ups or registration necessary!

And yes, refreshments will be provided!

Even if you cannot make it to the Morgan Hill Library Write-In, there are other ways to participate on your own or in a group. Just check out NaNoWriMo at their website, https://nanowrimo.org
