The mission of the Santa Clara County Library District Joint Powers Authority is to promote knowledge, ideas, and cultural enrichment. The Library provides free access to informational, educational, and recreational materials and services. In response to community needs, the library provides diverse resources on a wide variety of subjects and viewpoints and helps people use these resources. Portions of the Library’s website are intended as a limited forum for the public to share reviews, reading recommendations, comments, and book discussions.
The Library may include in its website online forum products from vendors that are hosted by the vendor. Usage of those products may be subject to the terms of use as defined by the vendor.

Policy for Online Public Comments
The Library's online forums are intended to create welcoming and inviting online spaces where library users can interact with library staff and other library users while finding useful and entertaining information related to the library's activities and resources. The Library 's online discussions and reviews are moderated, which means all comments will be reviewed before posting to assure that they are on topic. The topics of discussion will be set by the moderator, primarily relating to library news, book reviews and discussions, and reading recommendations. Online postings should be within the scope of these subjects. Accordingly, any postings inconsistent with this stated purpose may be removed. The Library must post all on-topic comments provided they do not incite illegal activity. We expect that participants will treat each other, as well as the Library and our employees, with respect. We will not post comments that are clearly “off topic”, as established by the Library in its role as moderator. Participants are fully responsible for everything that they submit in their comments, and all posted comments are in the public domain. We do not discriminate against any views, but we reserve the right not to post comments that are clearly “off topic”.
Any references to commercial entities, products, services, or other nongovernmental organizations or individuals that remain on the site are provided solely for the information of individuals using the Library’s online discussions and reviews. These references are not intended to reflect the opinion of the Library, or its officers or employees concerning the significance, priority, or importance to be given the referenced entity, product, service, or organization. The Library's online forum is not open to promoting or opposing any person campaigning for election to a political office of promoting or opposing any ballot proposition. Comments are not the proper place to express unrelated opinions or beliefs to the topic.
The Library's online forum is not open to the promotion or advertisement of a business or commercial transaction.
The Library is unable to post comments from children under the age of 13 due to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Only comments that comply with this use policy will be approved for posting.
This use policy is subject to amendment or modification at any time to ensure its continued use is consistent with its intended purpose as a limited forum.
