Back to School in 2024: What’s happening @ SCCLD

Summer is nearly over and the school year is upon us. The library has a variety of resources and upcoming programs to get you ready for the new school year!

Self Care and Mindfulness

Balancing school, homework, part time jobs, extracurricular activities and family life is stressful. Are you interested in learning new techniques to help you manage stress and anxiety?

If you are in the north part of the county, then consider attending the Meditation and Mindfulness series at Los Altos Library, beginning August 5th. Learn meditation techniques you can use, even for just 20 minutes!

If you are in the south part of the county, Gilroy Library is hosting a Self-Care Saturday on August 17th. Learn to make self-care products and explore aromatherapy to help manage your stress!

You can also check out Headspace for on-the-go mindfulness, meditation, and focus exercises. Sign up with your library card and email, and download the app!

Want to Learn a New Skill or Game?

Then check out the Teen Intro to SQL at the Milpitas Library on August 17th! This is a hands-on workshop where you will learn the basics of this programming language!

Have you ever wanted to learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons? Then you might be interested in attending the Dungeons & Dragons: Session 0 at the Morgan Hill Library on August 24th, to sign up to play for the Fall semester! If you are more interested in observing a long-running D&D social group and campaign, then you want to check out the D&D Social Club at Los Altos Library on Thursdays.

Do you enjoy playing games competitively? Then you definitely want to go by Milpitas Library on August 2nd for the Brawl Stars Tournament, or by Los Altos Library for their Board Game Competition on August 17th!

We've got many more programs happening, from book clubs to gaming days to arts & crafts to social clubs and Dungeons & Dragons meet ups. Check out our Events Page to see what is happening at your local library in August!
