Announcing the 18th Annual SCCLD Teen Poetry Contest!
How does it work?
- One winner from each library will be chosen in the following categories: Middle School (grades 6–8) and High School (grades 9–12).
- Winners will receive a $50 gift card AND an exclusive winners' workshop with Santa Clara County Poet Laureate Yosimar Reyes on Saturday June 8, 2024 at 11AM!
- Winners will be notified by May 20, 2024 and must respond by May 27, 2024 to receive prize.
What should I write?
- Poems will be judged by grade level, original content, style, vocabulary, and creative expression. You may write in any poetry style you like, on any subject.
- Participants may submit up to three (3) original poems that are no longer than 30 lines per poem.
- Poems may be submitted online (see form below) or in-person at your library. Poems submitted in-person will not be returned; they must be typed or handwritten neatly and legibly, and you must include a completed entry form with each poem you submit.
How do I submit my poem(s)?
- Online (using the form below) OR in-person (with a printed entry form) at your library. You can also pick up a blank entry form at your library. Poems submitted in person without the form will not be considered, so don't forget to attach it!
- Please note that the online submission form may distort the format of your poem. If the format is integral, please print your poem and turn it in at your library.
- The last day to submit your entries is April 30th, 2024!
