Let Freedom Ring: Happy Birthday America!

The United States is about to turn 249 years old. It was on July 4, 1776 when the Second Continental Congress officially passed the Declaration of Independence, declaring the American colonies free and independent states.

It is a time to celebrate our freedoms, including the right to read what we want. Our forefathers wished to control their own destinies, which included a desire for self-governance and greater religious freedom. Libraries are an extension of this independent tradition.

You can learn more about the history and battles fought by brave men and women to gain and protect our independence using the free library resources on our website.
