Jen Fisher Author Talk – Hope is the Strategy

Jen Fisher used to think hope was soft. Now she knows it's a strategy.

Fisher is a global authority on workplace wellbeing and founder and CEO of The Wellbeing Team. She is the bestselling author of Hope Is the Strategy: The Underrated Skill That Transforms Leadership, Work, and Wellbeing and Work Better Together. She was Deloitte US's first chief wellbeing officer. There she pioneered a human-centered approach to work that gained international recognition.

She had personal experiences with burnout and cancer. She became a trailblazer in wellbeing intelligence and co-creator of WellQ360. Fisher has dedicated her career to helping leaders build work cultures where people can thrive. Her work challenges outdated systems. It champions a vision of work that sustains people rather than depletes them. At the heart of Jen's work is the knowledge that hope is not just a feeling—it's a strategic imperative. She helps leaders harness hope as a catalyst for cultural transformation. She guides them to reimagine work as a force for human flourishing.

Fisher is the creator and host of The WorkWell Podcast. She is a TEDx speaker, and a recognized voice at Workhuman. She also spoke at SXSW, the Milken Global Conference, and Happiness Camp. She has taught at Harvard and UCLA. She contributed to Fortune, CNN, and Harvard Business Review. She served as editor-at-large for Thrive Global. She is the US Brand Ambassador for the World Wellbeing Movement. She is also the Director of Impact for Happiness Camp and sits on the board of One Green Thing.

In her latest book, Hope Is the Strategy, Fisher makes the case that hope isn't naive optimism. It is a practical, learnable skill, built on a sense of agency and the ability to see multiple paths forward. It shapes how we lead teams, handle setbacks, and stay whole under pressure. Hope is not just a feeling, but a strategic imperative.

We invite you to hear from Fisher on Monday, August 17 at 7 p.m. at the Cupertino Library! Fisher will read selections from Hope Is the Strategy. She will open the floor for a conversation about what it looks like to build hope as a daily practice. Space is limited, and you can register for the event here, or at the QR code included in this post. We will also be giving away free signed copies of the book to the first 50 people at the event!
