The Imagination Library of Santa Clara County has turned one! Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL) is a completely FREE program that mails an age-appropriate book each month to children under the age of 5 living in Santa Clara County.
Founded in Tennessee by beloved country music star Dolly Parton (1946-2026), this wonderful program has been inspiring young readers across the world since 1995. A recent global study conducted by DPIL* found that children who participated in the program were 4 times more likely to show stronger emerging literacy skills.
Each book is carefully selected by Penguin Random House’s Blue Ribbon committee and is available in English or a bilingual English/Spanish format, helping ensure the program is accessible to a wide range of families.
In just a year, the Imagination Library of Santa Clara has mailed more than 175,000 books to local children. As of the end of September 2026, over 23,000 children are registered —meaning more than 25% of eligible children in the county are now receiving books every month!
Celebrate with us by registering your child today or sharing the program with families who may benefit. Learn more or sign up at: https://sccld.org/imaginationlibrary/
