Let's celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month at the library!
Every year from September 15th through October 15th we recognize the rich culture, history and achievements from generations of Hispanic Americans. The national commemoration of Hispanic Heritage Week began in 1968 under President Lyndon Johnson. Twenty years later, President Ronald Reagan expanded the observation to a month.
Santa Clara County Library District will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a performance for children and their families by Cascada de Flores at select community libraries beginning on Saturday, September 14 from 11:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. at Milpitas Library. Cascada de Flores transports audiences on a joyous journey through the heart of Latin America. With a captivating blend of traditional Mexican and Caribbean rhythms, their bilingual performances are a delightful fusion of music, storytelling, and dance. Through playful melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and infectious energy, Cascada de Flores invites to everyone tap your feet, sing along, and immerse yourself in the vibrant tapestry of Latin American culture.
Gilroy, Los Altos and Morgan Hill Libraries will also host Bilingual Storytime in English and Spanish. Please check out all of our Hispanic Heritage month programs by visiting our events page on our website.
Children and their families are also invited to celebrate a variety of stories inspired by Hispanic Heritage cultures by reading and sharing books from our booklists for different ages.
