The Santa Clara County Library District welcomes volunteers throughout the year and appreciate their contributions of time and talent. A variety of opportunities are available to meet your schedule, interests, and skill sets.

Volunteer Opportunities

Tutor K - 6th Grade Students Through Homework Help (Must be 14+ to Volunteer)

Hiring for the Fall semester begins July 1, 2024.

Brief Description:

SCCLD Libraries will be providing Homework Help to students from K to 6th grade in Math, Science, and English. This volunteer position will include a training requirement and has a specific availability schedule.

Students can earn community service hours for this program!

Volunteers willing to tutor must be:

At least 14 years old
Available at least one day Monday through Thursday 4:00 to 5:30 PM
- At this time, Campbell Library is NOT accepting volunteers for Homework Help
Able to commit for a full semester
Attend a minimum of 7 hours of training
Adults will be background checked

Training:

Your name will be shared with our partner for tutor training.

Training will include:

Pre-Assessment and Post-Assessment Tests (online)
Welcome and Best Practices (online)
Cultural Competency (online)
What is Mentorship (online)
Learning Environment Norms and Expectations (online)
General Tutoring Support in Math and ELA (online or in-person)

At the Library:

Once training is complete, your name will be shared with the library who will contact you with further instructions.
You will attend an orientation at the library.
