Musical Enjoyment for All Ages
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF. – The Santa Clara County Library District (SCCLD) welcomes two very eclectic musical acts in January and February. Caribbean singer Asheba is the featured musician for the Family Concert Series, while Black Cedar Trio re-imagines classics with their three-piece ensemble.
“We are happy to introduce wide-ranging musical talent to our patrons,” said County Librarian Nancy Howe. “From the Caribbean style musical storytelling of Asheba to the Renaissance masterpieces performed by Black Cedar Trio, they are performances all ages will enjoy.”
Asheba specializes in Calypso, the musical and folkloric oral tradition of his native Trinidad. The focus of his music is hope and happiness, which you can hear in his original works as well as his covers of classics such as “Itsy Bitsy Spider” and “You Are My Sunshine.” The Family Concert Series begins on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Morgan Hill Library.
Black Cedar Trio is a three-piece ensemble dedicated to music for flute, cello and guitar. They recreate classic and commissioned compositions that work for this unique combination. Their performances have been described as “deeply personal” with “perfect synchronization of subtle rhythms and phrases.” Formed in 2013, the group has performed all over the state. Their series starts on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Saratoga Library.
All of SCCLD’s events are free and open to the public. Seating is limited, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early.
