Thanksgiving: Many Reasons to be Thankful

This is the time of year to appreciate the blessings in life and show gratitude for what we have. Thanksgiving Day is a day to connect with loved ones, share a delicious meal, and reflect on what truly matters.

The first Thanksgiving is often traced back to 1621, when the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indians shared a harvest feast. This historic event marked a time of peace and cooperation between the two cultures. While this event is often celebrated as the origin of Thanksgiving, it's important to acknowledge the complex history between European settlers and the Indigenous peoples.

As we gather with loved ones this Thanksgiving, we at the Santa Clara County Library District want to express our sincere gratitude to you, our valued patrons and community members. We also want to thank our support groups including Friends of the Library groups, the Santa Clara County Library District Foundation and Cupertino Library Foundation, the Los Altos Library Endowment, each of our library commissions, city and community partners, and our Joint Powers Authority Board.
