Libraries Closed for Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday

SCCLD libraries will be closed on Monday, January 19 for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Our Online Library is available 24/7.

A federal holiday since 1986, MLK Day is held on the third Monday of January near Dr. King's January 15 birthday. The holiday honors the civil rights pioneer, who helped galvanize Americans around the need to guarantee equal access to voting, housing and employment to all Americans regardless of race or color. He was integral in convincing President Lyndon B. Johnson to push for enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

The library has many titles about Dr. King's life, including the selections below.
