With the holiday season on the horizon, many of us are scrambling to get gifts for the special children in our lives. There is no shortage of lists on the internet featuring new, hot toys for just this purpose. The sheer quantity of recommendations can make the task feel overwhelming. It turns out books can make the perfect holiday gift; plus, stepping on a book your child has forgotten to pick up won't hurt nearly as much as stepping on the contents of a new Lego set left strewn across the floor! Lucky for you, we know a thing or two about books! We are sharing some of our current favorites to hopefully make your gift selections a little easier this year.
Perhaps you are traveling for the holidays. A book is ultra-portable and has the ability to keep a kid entertained while traveling. Whether you are in a car or on a plane, train, or bus, the right book can keep a kid from asking that dreaded travel question: “Are we there yet?”
Maybe you are having a staycation this holiday season. Well, a book can take a child on adventure without ever having to leave the comfort of their home—whether that be fighting the pirates of Neverland in J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan or playing on an island with unfamiliar creatures in Maurice Sendak’s Where The Wild Things Are.
