Spy Novelist Daniel Silva Headlines The Distinguished Author Series

Engage with Bestselling Author and Journalist in July

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF. – The Santa Clara County Library District (SCCLD) is proud to announce the latest installment of The Distinguished Author Series. This program brings together talented and acclaimed writers with diverse backgrounds whose compelling works captivate audiences over and over again. We invite you to what will inevitably be an intriguing conversation with spy novelist and former journalist Daniel Silva, opens a new window on Friday, July 18 at 7 p.m. at the Campbell Heritage Theater in Campbell.

According to publications including Parade magazine, Silva is considered to be his “generation’s finest writer of international intrigue and one of the greatest American spy novelists ever.” Daniel Silva is the mastermind of the long-running Gabriel Allon spy thriller series. His work as a journalist has taken him to different parts of the world, which has helped set the scene of many Gabriel Allon adventures.

“One of the priorities in our Strategic Plan is ‘We Inspire,’ building the foundations of literacy with our community.” said County Librarian Jennifer Weeks. “The Distinguished Author Series continues to be one of our most popular library programs, drawing in hundreds of readers who are enlightened by hearing from their favorite authors. By bringing in quality authors such as Daniel Silva, we provide opportunities for our communities to meet and engage with celebrated authors while gaining a deeper understanding of their work, background, and writing process.”

In his latest novel, An Inside Job, art restorer and sometimes spy Gabriel Allon is tasked with recovering a lost masterpiece by Leonardo da Vinci while solving the death of a mystery woman. The action moves at breakneck speed from the galleries and auction houses of London to an enclave of unimaginable wealth on the French Riveria—and, finally, to a shocking climax in St. Peter’s Square. An Inside Job will be released on Tuesday, July 15.

Hear from Silva firsthand in a conversation with his wife, the award-winning CNN Special Correspondent Jamie Gangel.
