Library to Open Mondays, Starting January

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF.‑ Beginning Monday, January 6, the Morgan Hill Library, a Santa Clara County Library District library, will be open six days per week.

“The newly-expanded library hours will benefit South County residents,” said District 1 Santa Clara County Supervisor Mike Wasserman, Delegate for the County Library District Joint Powers Authority. “Children who need access to education and information resources that they might not have at home will especially benefit from the library now being open Mondays.”

Located at 660 West Main Avenue, the Morgan Hill Library is a 28,000 square foot building with almost 200,000 physical items in its collection.  The library opened in its current location in 2007.

“We never liked seeing our beautiful new asset closed on a weekday and now it won't be,” said Morgan Hill Mayor Steve Tate.  “We are really excited about this, and so appreciative that the voters overwhelmingly supported our great library system in Morgan Hill and throughout the District.”

Beginning January 6, 2014, Morgan Hill Library’s new open hours will be:

Monday:        1:00 pm – 9:00 pm (with lobby service from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm)
Tuesday:       1:00 pm – 9:00 pm (with lobby service from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm)
Wednesday:   1:00 pm – 9:00 pm (with lobby service from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm)
Thursday:      10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Friday:          10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Saturday:      10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Sunday:        Closed

“We are continuously looking for ways to improve Library services, and to make them more accessible to District residents,” noted County Librarian, Nancy Howe. “Our research indicated that adding Monday hours would meet an important need in Morgan Hill. Library District staff are excited to provide Morgan Hill patrons with expanded service options.”
