The Distinguished Author Series brings together three well-known writers to discuss their nonfiction books that have dominated bestseller lists and sparked meaningful conversations. The series continues with John Carreyrou, author of Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup, where he details the rise and fall of enigmatic CEO Elizabeth Holmes and her health technology company, Theranos.

For his extensive coverage of Theranos, Carreyrou was awarded the George Polk Award for Financial Reporting, the Gerald Loeb Award for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism in the category of beat reporting, and the Barlett & Steele Silver Award for Investigative Business Journalism. WHY:   The Santa Clara County Library District is proud to bring quality programming to our patrons. Patrons may find this speaker particularly interesting, as Theranos was based in
the Bay Area.     

These events are free and open to the public.  Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.  Seating is limited and participants are encouraged to arrive early. There is a $3 fee to park at De Anza College. Carreyrou’s discussion will be streamed live on the SCCLD Facebook page (@SCCLD).
