County Supervisor Joe Simitian shares what he learned touring a trio of battleground states
Three speaking engagements in November at SCCLD Libraries
WHO: Santa Clara County Library District’s Saratoga Library, Campbell Library and Los Altos Library will host County Supervisor Joe Simitian, 5th District (which includes Cupertino, Los Altos, and Saratoga).
WHAT: Supervisor Simitian will share his experience traveling to North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Michigan speaking to over 100 residents in traditionally Democratic counties who “flipped” and supported Donald Trump in the 2016 Presidential Election. His goal was to listen and learn why they supported Donald Trump for President, and better understand what took place last November. There will be time after the presentation for questions and answers.

ABOUT: The results of the 2016 Presidential Election caught many Californians, particularly Bay Area residents, by surprise. Rather than rely on TV political commentators or other usual sources of information to provide an explanation, Supervisor Simitian traveled to three of the key counties in battleground states that switched their support from Democrat to Republican in 2016. He spoke directly to voters from all walks of life about their situations, concerns and hopes, gaining a much better understanding which he will share to engage further dialogue.
