SCCLD Celebrates Día/Day of the Child

April 30th is Children’s Day/Book Day (Día de los niños / Día de los libros). Children’s Day/Book Day, commonly referred to as Día, is a nationally recognized initiative that celebrates the importance of literacy for all children from all backgrounds. It is a commitment to ensure all children and their families have access to diverse books, languages and cultures. For this year, SCCLD has created a specialized library Literacy Loteria “Take and Go” kit. La Loteria is a traditional family game played by Latinx families similar to bingo.

Stop by; pick up a kit and Celebrate Día with your family and SCCLD.

If you are looking for some diverse books, reading inspiration or would like to learn more about different cultures browse the following lists and find a book to share with the children in your life.
