May is National Hamburger Month! There aren't many specifics known about the origins of the hamburger. It was invented in either the 19th or 20th century. It was first served in either the USA or Germany (it IS named for the city of Hamburg). But whatever its origins, it became and has remained an extremely popular dish worldwide, adapting to different meats or meat substitutes and a variety of condiments and trimmings.
