Grades 8 and Up

350 Pages

At Shark Beach High School, the top students are all within 0.25 grade points between each other. David Tung is ranked the eighth highest, which sounds pretty good. However, David knows that only the top six, or maybe the top seven, will receive an offer from an Ivy League School and he needs to rank higher to make the grade. Every quiz, project, extra credit assignment or exam is an opportunity to push ahead in the rankings.

Everything in David’s life has been set up to get him into an Ivy League school  His parents live in this particular neighborhood because Shark Beach High School is known for producing an elite level of education at a public school price. Parents have moved from all over the country just for this opportunity making the top students very competitive.

David’s family doesn’t have money for test preparation classes or tutors but they expect David to work at the family restaurant and get into an Ivy League school anyway.

That’s why when David’s mom finds out he wants to go out with a girl he’s met, she instantly takes away his cell phone and he’s kept from any social activities that might distract him from the goal.

Is being funny, smart and hardworking enough to succeed? Will David get the right internships, land the Ivy League offer, and prevail on the path to true love?
