Kids Summer Reading Program 2021

Our 2021 Summer Reading Program “Reading Colors Your World” starts June 1st.  We can’t wait to show you all the fun virtual programs we have scheduled this Summer, including animals, magic, storytimes, art, STEAM, LEGO, and more!

Sign up June 1st – July 31st and earn a reward for reading 5 books and completing 1 activity

Sign up and track your books with Beanstack online or download the free Beanstack App to track reading on the go.  If you participated last year, signing up is as easy as clicking a button.

Pick up your finishing reward at your local SCCLD library August 1st – 31st while supplies last.

June 2nd              Animals of the Rainforest 
Meet incredible animals from the rainforest, and learn all about how they live and each of their special features.  Explore their habitat and find out the importance of preserving the rainforest.

June 9th               Magic Show      
Join Magician Brian Scott for his virtual magic show Bizarre and Strange: Where the magic happens on the other side of the screen!  Grab a deck of cards, paper and a pencil to follow along at home.

June 16th             Tale of the Dragon’s Tail Puppet Show  
Puppet Art Theater presents this tale of a princess, a wizard, and a mysterious dragon!

June 23rd             Xtreme Science Magic
Don O’Brien will demonstrate and explain super fun scientific experiments with items from around the house like flying toilet paper, bouncing bubbles, fire tornado, dancing electricity and more!

June 30th             Circus of Smiles Gravity Defying Circus Show
Kids won’t be able to stop smiling with this amazing circus inspired show full of silly characters, juggling, acrobatics, music and feats of incredible strength!

July 7th                Ocean’s Rock 
Learn fascinating facts in this incredible presentation with real specimens!                                          

July 14th              Magic Workshop
Brian Scott, magician extraordinaire, will teach you magic tricks you can do with objects you have at home!  To follow along, gather a deck of cards, some paper napkins, a dollar bill, a quarter, some paper and something to write with.  Suggested for ages 8 – 12 years old.

July 21st              Figmentally – Imagination in Action
Giggles, smiles and amazement aplenty as Drea and Eric – two endearing storybook characters – will take you on a magical, funny and acrobatic reading adventure! 

July 28th              Jungle James Animal Adventure
Meet some of the world’s coolest critters, including a tarantula, frog, lizard, snake, and a surprise guest animal!  Learn about each animal’s habitat and their unique creature features.
