Finding shelter and a place to live is the first thing everyone needs to stay healthy and safe. The agencies below offer a variety of assistance and are providing services during shelter in place.
Housing: Shelters
HomeFirst™provides a variety of services and housing opportunities to the homeless and those at risk of homelessness in Santa Clara County. Their Outreach team can help find emergency shelter, showers, laundry and more. Call the Outreach Helpline at (408)510-7600 or email outreach@homefirstscc.org
Life Moves provides temporary housing to people experiencing homelessness with the goal of returning them to stable housing and long-term self-sufficiency. Check their Find a Shelter page for locations helping families, single adults, and veterans.
Heading Home Silicon Valley is a collective effort by the County, various cities, and community partners to house all homeless families in Santa Clara County in the next few years.

Housing: Rent Assistance
Salvation Army provides assistance to help families pay their rent and/or deposit in response to hardship or unforeseen difficulty. They also provide related services such as grocery assistance and clothing vouchers. (408) 282-1165 x3210
Catholic Charities provides support for families and individuals facing housing instability or homelessness and a guide to affordable housing in the area.
Community Services Agency of Mountain View, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills is a provider of
various safety net services, including emergency rent assistance and other aid and information on Covid 19 related relief. (650) 968-0836
Eviction Moratoriums
On March 24, 2020, the County Board of Supervisors enacted a moratorium on “no-fault” evictions and evictions for non-payment of rent for tenants who have incurred substantial income loss and/or substantial out-of-pocket medical expenses as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This moratorium applies throughout Santa Clara County, including Cities, and protects both residential as well as small business tenants. See here for more information.
