These are unusual times during this Covid19 Pandemic and we may find ourselves in positions that we have never been in before. We want to make sure that our communities have the resources they need to stay happy and healthy, so here is a list of resources for Seniors. There are many organizations in Santa Clara County that focus on Seniors and are waiting to help. Let's get started:
Santa Clara County Department of Aging and Adult Services is a good starting point.
Avenidas: Re-Inventing Aging has a great resource page with Financial, Food, Government, Medical and Transportation information.
Institute on Aging - Do you need someone to talk to? The Institute on Aging has a free Friendship Line for when you need to talk to somebody.
El Camino Health has a bilingual Chinese Senior Health Resource Guide with a downloadable PDF component.
The Office of Cultural Competency has created a Map of Meal sites - Most meal sites are providing meals for pick up and some will even deliver. Contact your local site to see how they are providing service.
VTA is fare free right now and is providing a map to food pantries and shelters
Meals on Wheels is still providing meals to Seniors, Persons with Disabilities and also those with medical conditions and isolation. Meals on Wheels also provides companionship through the Friends of Meals on Wheels
Here is a list of stores that have Senior hours. If you see a line at the store, go to the front and check with the door monitor to see if that is the line for Seniors or regular people waiting to get in. Most stores do not have a wait line for Seniors.
