The Waves on the Beach

(To the tune: The Wheels on the Bus)

The waves on the beach go up and down,

up and down, up and down,

The waves on the beach go up and down

All day long

The crabs on the beach go snap, snap, snap..

The clams on the beach go open and shut...

The sand on the beach goes swish, swish, swish..

Pre-Literacy Tip: Tongue Twister Fun with Silly Sea Rhymes

Learning about letters, words, sounds and meaning can be silly fun with tongue twister games and the rolling sounds of alliteration, especially with the added dimension of homophones (words that sound the same, but mean different things and are spelled altogether different) - like bear and bare or sea and see.

Try out some Silly Sea Rhymes -- Sally Sells Sea Seashells is quite a challenge -  try saying it slow, then fast. The Sailor Went to Sea is a fun first clapping game to play as well, by partnering with your child and slapping hands together on the "sea, sea, sea" and "see, see, see". I guarantee you and your child will be laughing like silly!

Sally Sells Seashells

Sally sells seashells by the seashore.

The shells Sally sells are surely from the sea.

A Sailor Went To Sea

A sailor (hold hand in salute at forehead)

went to sea, sea, sea (clap 3 times)

To see (cup hand to eyes)

what he could see, see, see (clap 3 times)

But all that he could see, see, see (clap 3 times)

Was the bottom of the deep blue!
