County & State Park Passes

Santa Clara County Library District now offers free vehicle-entry passes to County and State Parks for checkout with your library card! Visit any number of eligible parks while you have the pass checked out.

County Park Passes

Santa Clara County Library District, in partnership with Santa Clara County, offers free vehicle entry passes for County Park visitors. A limited number of passes are available.

To Use the Free Santa Clara County Park Passes:

  1. You must have a valid full-service or limited-service physical card to borrow a Park Pass. eCards are not eligible to borrow a Park Pass.
  2. County Park Passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis. No holds allowed.
  3. The borrowing period for County Park Passes is 3 weeks.
  4. Pick up a pass at the Accounts Desk at any SCCLD library or the Bookmobile when a pass is available.
  5. The pass is valid at 28 regional parks. Visit the Santa Clara County Parks, opens a new window website for the list of eligible parks.
  6. Park for free with the pass at a participating Santa Clara County Park.
  7. Return the pass at the Accounts Desk at the library or BookmobileDo not return passes in the bookdrop or automatic returns machine.

*County Park Passes are not valid at parks operated by federal or state governments, private agencies or concessionaires. Additionally, the pass is not valid for per-person entry or tour fees, boat use, camping, group use or sites, special events, commercial use, additional/extra vehicle fees, or for supplemental fees and cannot be used in conjunction with any other pass and/or discount.


State Park Passes

Santa Clara County Library District, in partnership with the California State Library and California State Parks, offers free day-use vehicle entry passes for State Park visitors. A limited number of passes are available.

To Use the Free California Park Passes:

  1. You must have a valid full-service or limited-service physical card to borrow a Park Pass. eCards are not eligible to borrow a Park Pass.
  2. Place a hold on a State Park Pass from the library catalog.
  3. The borrowing period for State Park Passes is 3 weeks.
  4. Pick up the pass from the Accounts Desk at any SCCLD library or the Bookmobile when a pass is available.
  5. The pass is valid at over 200 California State Parks. Visit CheckOutCAStateParks.com for a list of which parks are NOT eligible.
  6. Park for free with the pass at a participating California State Park. Show the pass to a uniformed state park employee, scan barcode on front of pass at reader or display from your vehicle’s rearview mirror.
  7. Return the pass at the Accounts Desk at the library or BookmobileDo not return passes in the bookdrop or automatic returns machine.
